Google I/O 2026: Everything that just changed

We watched the full 2-hour keynote. Here's what matters globally — and what India actually gets right now.

Google's I/O 2026 keynote was their most packed in years. New AI models, a 24/7 personal agent, a video creation tool, smart glasses, and completely new subscription pricing. Some of it is live globally today. Some of it is US-only for now. Here's the full honest breakdown.

🔥 Biggest Announcement — Global

Gemini Spark — A 24/7 AI Agent That Works While You Sleep

Gemini Spark is the most ambitious thing Google has ever shipped to consumers. It's not a chatbot — it's an autonomous agent that runs 24/7 on Google's servers, working on tasks you give it even after you close your laptop.

What it can do: Give it "plan my block party — collect RSVPs from Gmail, create a tracker in Sheets, send reminders to people who haven't replied." It builds the spreadsheet, drafts the emails, and updates everything automatically. Live demo on stage showed it doing exactly this in real time.

It runs on Gemini 3.5 + the Antigravity agent harness. Later this summer it expands to third-party apps via MCP — so it could order your groceries through Swiggy Instamart or book your Ola ride automatically.

🌍 Global availability Rolling out to AI Ultra subscribers — US Beta next week, global TBD
🇮🇳 India availability Not confirmed yet — US only at launch
💰 Cost to access Google AI Ultra — $100/month (US) · ₹6,500/month (India)

🎬 For Creators — Available in India Now

Gemini Omni — Google's Answer to Sora (and It's Free on Paid Plans)

Upload a video. Describe what you want. Omni re-renders it — new camera angle, different lighting, new characters added, completely different style. The AI understands physics and motion, not just pixels. Character consistency across scenes was the biggest problem with every AI video tool before this.

Global significance: This directly competes with OpenAI's Sora, Runway, and Kling — except it's bundled into Google's existing paid plans. No extra subscription needed.

For Indian creators: If you make Instagram Reels or YouTube content, this could replace tools you're currently paying ₹1,500–₹3,000/month for. YouTube Shorts gets Omni integration next week globally.

🌍 Global availability ✅ Live today — all paid Gemini plans worldwide
🇮🇳 India availability ✅ Available now on AI Pro (~₹1,699/mo)

🇮🇳 India Pricing Breakdown

New Google AI Plans — What Should You Actually Pay?

Plan US Price India Price Key Feature
AI Plus $7.99/mo TBD 2x limits, Omni
AI Pro $19.99/mo ~₹1,699/mo Deep Research, Omni, YT Premium Lite
AI Ultra (new) $99.99/mo ₹6,500/mo Gemini Spark, 20TB, YT Premium
AI Ultra (top) $200/mo ₹24,500/mo 25,000 credits, Project Genie

Our honest take: For most Indian users, AI Pro at ~₹1,699/month is the sweet spot. You get Gemini Omni, Deep Research, and 3.5 Flash — everything practical. The Ultra plan at ₹6,500/month (₹78,000/year) is only worth it when Gemini Spark launches in India — which hasn't happened yet.

🔍 Google Search — Global Rollout Today

Search Is No Longer a Search Engine

The new intelligent Search box expands as you type, generates images and short videos inline, and now supports 24/7 background agents — set it to monitor biotech stocks, track apartment listings, or alert you when a sneaker drops. No more manually refreshing pages.

Generative UI in Search is rolling out globally this summer — Search will build custom interactive dashboards for complex questions on the fly, powered by Antigravity. Free for everyone.

👓 Hardware — Fall 2026 Global

Android XR Glasses — Google Takes on Meta Ray-Ban

Audio-first smart glasses with Gemini built in — Warby Parker and Gentle Monster designs, Samsung hardware. Live demo: ordered coffee hands-free, navigated Maps, added calendar events, all via voice through the glasses.

India angle: No pricing or India launch confirmed yet. Based on Meta Ray-Ban (₹28,000–₹35,000 in India), expect a similar range when these launch globally in fall 2026.

💻 For Developers — Global, Free with Pro/Ultra

Antigravity 2.0 Built a Full OS in 12 Hours for Under $1,000

Google's AI coding platform ran 93 agents in parallel to build a working operating system from scratch. 15,000+ model requests. 2.6 billion tokens. They ran Doom on it live on stage. For Indian developers using Cursor or GitHub Copilot — this is bundled free with AI Pro and available globally today.
